'Pretty Lost' is the graduate collection by Lydia Rose Carter.
'Pretty lost' is derived from the aesthetic mutilation practiced by certain tribal women, in order to prevent themselves for being taken by men from the mainland or other tribes. Women pierce and stretch their skin, and tattoo their faces in order to look unappealing. The collection has an angry hap-hazard energy; It feels the power of a person who knows their value has no connection to their skin.
Traditional draping techniques are combined with innovative pattern cutting to construct the collection. Pure copper is forged to restrict and pierce the fabric, creating silhouettes that are stretched and pulled out of the original form.
